I am very excited today to feature a teacher from a Utah charter school. We have so many unique teachers in our state who are working hard to meet the varied needs of Utah students. Bridgette Barrowes is a constant advocate for students and their families. Read on to learn more about Bridgette and add her to your professional learning network by following her on Twitter @bridgette5fam.
Where do you teach? Pacific Heritage Academy
What is the funniest thing a student has ever said? “I wish you were my mom”
What advice would you give to new teachers? Enjoy what you do as a teacher because you may never get paid enough to teach children.
Describe any experience you have had in education policy. Involvement with the PTA as a Region Director as well as the State PTA Emerging Minority Leadership Chair.
What’s the biggest change you would like to see in education? Better pay for classroom teachers.
Why did you choose to become an educator and why do you choose to stay in the profession? I needed to learn how to navigate the educational system to help my own children with their education. I choose to stay because I have a few children that I feel need me.
Thanks Bridgette for your dedication to Utah students!
Cheers!
Tabitha
